Greetings,
The pending redevelopment of vacant City land at Lake Street and Kedzie Avenue in East Garfield Park will be the subject of a virtual community meeting hosted by the Department of Planning and Development (DPD) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6.
The 1.25 acres of land is adjacent to the CTA Kedzie Green Line station, where DPD issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) from potential developers this summer. Submissions were narrowed to three development teams that are creating competing proposals for the site. The teams include:
- Citizens Building a Better Community, JGMA + Botanical City, Productora
- Evergreen-Imagine, Lorcan O'Herlihy Architects, Harley Ellis Devereaux
- The Michaels Org. and KMW Communities, Brooks + Scarpa, Studio Dwell
Tuesday’s virtual meeting will include development team introductions and a workshop to solicit community input about potential uses and design. Stakeholders interested in attending can register now via Zoom. More information and an “idea board” is available at the project website.
The development teams will use input gathered throughout the community engagement process to finalize proposals early next year. Winning projects are expected to be announced by spring 2023.
Thanks for your interest.
Event date: December 6th, 2022 at 11:00 PM to December 7th, 2022 at 12:00 AM.
